The colony of Massachusetts started a form of government in the bottom cabin of the Mayflower. They made the Mayflower Compact. It was drawn up of equal laws and rights. The settlers arived in Plymouth, and voted John Carver as the first governer of the Massachusetts colony. Massachusetts became one of the most industrialized states in the country in the late 19th century. Male church embers were allowed to vote and exile dissenters.
